Robert "Bob" Edward Smoot, Jr

Robert "Bob" Smoot, Jr., 72, passed away on April 2, 2017 in Waldron, AR.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 6, 2017 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, AR. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Joy Carmean, LS presiding. Services will conclude with burial at Duncan Cemetery. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, AR.

Bob was born in Tulsa, OK to Dr. Robert Smoot and Hazel (Bird) Smoot on May 5, 1944. He was raised in Waldron, AR and later attended the University of Arkansas and received his Bachelor's Degree from Louisiana State University. He went on to receive his Master's Degree from Rutgers University.

Bob married Nancy (Johnston) Smoot on April 5, 1986 in St. Francisville, LA. They celebrated nearly 31 years of marriage.

Throughout his life, Bob demonstrated his appreciation for and dedication to his hometown by actively serving his community. He served as an alderman on the Waldron City Council for eight years and launched the Light Up Waldron initiative with his wife, Nancy. For 31 years, he also worked in the floral industry alongside his wife.

Bob is preceded in death by his father, Dr. Robert Smoot, and his mother, Hazel (Bird) Smoot.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy; his three children, Bob, Todd, and Haley Smoot of Austin, TX; his sister Sally (Smoot) Wright of Nashville, TN; and his six grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Vic Holmes, George Marsh, Robert May, Jeto Piles, Gary Plummer, and Gaylord Solomon.

Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Bob to the American Cancer Society or to Duncan Cemetery in Waldron, AR.
