Edna Lea Maxell of Waldron, Arkansas went to be with her Lord and Savior, Thursday, January 14, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Edna was born December 14, 1940 to Harvey Lester Newberry and Gertrude Armelia (Rhyne) Newberry in Waldron, Arkansas. Edna was 75 years and 1 month old.
Edna enjoyed working outside. She also enjoyed quilting. Edna was passionate about her visits to the nursing home. She would go and stay for hours on end just making everyone smile and sharing her warmth and compassion. Edna was also a very talented pianist.
Edna leaves behind to cherish her memory, two daughters: Juanita Edgar and Teresa Goddard and three sons: David Lee Maxell, Richard Maxell and Tim Maxell. Grandma will forever remain in the hearts of her 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Memories of Edna are treasured by her siblings: Lynda Bates, Benny Newberry, Wanda Gray, Ima Jean Hunt, Alice Friend and Mary Ann Sanders. Edna will be missed by all that knew her and the many whose lives were impacted by her, including an extended family of nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors and loved ones.
Edna was preceded in death by her loving husband Jimmie Lee Maxell, her parents, Harvey and Gertrude Newberry, one son in law Sonnie and three sisters: Verla Dean Woodard, Fern Oliver and Shirley Ammons.
Edna's life celebration will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the Pleasant Grove #3 Baptist Church near Waldron, Arkansas with Rev. Terry Benton and Rev. Rickey Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in the Sehorn Cemetery. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.
Edna's pallbearers will be Steven Edgar, Bradley Goddard, Eric Edgar, Casey Edgar, Kevin Edgar and Tyler Brewer. Honorary pallbearers will be Dickie Newberry, Jerry Hunsucker, Stanley Brewer and Joe Goddard.
Edna's visitation will Monday, January 18, 2016 from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home where Edna's family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
