Edwin Deon Hutchens

Edwin Deon Hutchens of Waldron, Arkansas went to be with his Lord and Savior, Monday, September 26, 2016 in Fort Smith, Arkansas surrounded by his loving family. Ed was born August 22, 1935 in Waldron, Arkansas to Ira B. Hutchens and Ova G. (Sparks) Hutchens. Ed was 81 years, 1 month and 4 days old. Ed attended Packsaddle Church in Packsaddle, Arkansas.

Ed was a man of God. He loved to witness and share his faith with everyone he met. He was an extremely giving person. Ed was a believer in missions and supporting them. He would collect cans and send all the proceeds to BGMC. Ed was a hard worker and enjoyed being outdoors. He was a witty person, and shared his stories and poems with his family. Ed enjoyed a lot of things, but his true passion was that for his family. He treasured the time together and all the memories made.

Ed leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Loretta of the home, five children: Darla Gathright and husband Paul of Waldron, Arkansas, Eddie Hutchens and wife Becky of Waldron, Arkansas, Sandy Young and husband Craig of Lowell, Arkansas, Lori Shupert and husband Kent of Waldron, Arkansas and Toby Hutchens and wife Ethel of Waldron, Arkansas. Papa will be missed by 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Ed is also survived by one brother, Loy Hutchens of California. Ed will be missed by all that knew him and the many whose lives he impacted, including a host of friends, neighbors and loved ones all very dear to him.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Ova Hutchens, two sisters, three brothers and other loved ones.

Ed's life celebration will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 29, 2016 at the Packsaddle Church in Packsaddle, Arkansas with Rev. Jeff Wilkinson and Rev. Ricky Elmore officiating. Interment will follow in the Birdsview Cemetery in Waldron, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.

Ed's pallbearers will be Eddie Hutchens, Toby Hutchens, Paul Gathright, Craig Young, Kent Shupert and Tyler Hutchens. Honorary pallbearers will be Rylee Shupert, Riley Hutchens, Erik Hutchens, R.L. Self, Jon Boles and Bryce Hutchens.

Ed's visitation will be Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas where Ed's family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
