Milton Odell Staggs

May 18, 1929 — April 29, 2016

Milton Odell Staggs went to be with his Lord and Savior, Friday, April 29, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Odell was born May 18, 1929 in Beauchamp, AR, to John Wilson and Addie Mae (Aynes) Staggs. Odell was 86 years, 11 months and 11 days old. Odell loved his Savior and faithfully served, loved to sing His praises. He followed God's plan in loving and providing for his family.

Though bone weary and sleep deprived, he was always ready to help someone-a man of great hospitality. His home was open to family and strangers who would become friends. Odell worked looong hours in his younger years. As a shipping supervisor, he was known to allow his guys to come in late on Saturdays so they could watch Road Runner cartoons. His garden had weedless, straight rows and he loved to share his produce. He just liked to be outdoors. And eat!

Alzheimers could not take his smile or spirit.

Odell leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife Pat Staggs, of the home, and children: Rhonda Metcalf and husband Roger, Patricia Smith and husband Russell, Bruce Staggs and wife Lorrie and Amy Roberts. Odell will forever remain in the hearts of his grandchildren: Blake, Rhaina, Ryan, Kandra, Austin, Dillion, Tyler, Delanie and Jace as well as 10 great grandchildren.
Odell is also survived by one sister, Phyllis Nelson of Waldron, Arkansas. Odell will be missed by all that knew him and the many whose lives were impacted by him including a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbors and loved ones.

Odell is preceded in death by his parents, John and Addie Staggs, three sisters: Charlene Janway, Doris Keeling and Dora Mooney as well as five brothers: Arnold Staggs, Dee Staggs, Athel Staggs, Dan Staggs and Harrell Staggs.

Odell's life celebration will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 2, 2016 at the Waldron First Baptist Church in Waldron, Arkansas with Rev. Billy Crow and Rev. Nelson Wilhelm officiating. Interment will follow in the Walnut Grove Cemetery near Waldron, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.

Odell's pallbearers will be Blake Metcalf, Dillon Staggs, Tyler Staggs, Jace Roberts, John Nelson and Greg Newborn. Honorary pallbearers will be Alan Dozier, Ron Hale, David Austin, Doyle Dickens, Miles Dozier, Bud Sims, Mitch Crotts and Jerry Skeen.

Odell's visitation will be Sunday, May 1, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas where Odell's family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
