Marvin B. Ward

July 14, 1943 — May 9, 2017

Marvin B. Ward of Waldron, Arkansas passed away peacefully May 9, 2017, surrounded by his family and friends in Little Rock, Arkansas. Marvin was born July 14, 1943 to Carrell Ward and Josie (Hensley) Ward On Dooley Road in Boles, Arkansas. He was 73 years old.

Marvin was one of Jehovah's witnesses. He put into practice everyday his beliefs and faithfully served his God until his death. Marvin was a jolly man. It's been said, "His flashing smile and twinkling blue eyes helped to bring smiles to sad faces." He loved to play his guitar and sing. In fact, in 1964 he went to Little Rock and became a part of a group that sang and played on a television program called the Tommy Trent Show. Of course, country and western music was the only music, in his opinion. Being raised to appreciate hard work, Marvin took pride in what he did. Marvin worked along side his brothers in the cement business, construction and even dabbled in a little trading. He was pinned by friends as Lamont as in Sanford and Son. But most of all, Marvin loved his family. He looked forward to spending time with them and sitting around making memories and telling stories, and Marvin always had a good one.

Marvin leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 40 years, Diann of the home, three children: Brent Ward and wife Jeanette of Texas, JoAnn Maples and husband Brandon of Texas and Trevor Ward of the home. He is also survived by two sisters: Juanita Maxwell and husband Charles of Waldron, Arkansas and Kathy White and husband Douglas of Parks, Arkansas and one brother, Joe Bill Ward of Arkansas. Poppy will forever remain in the heart of his granddaughters Aubrey Dee Burton and April. Marvin will be missed by all that knew him and the many whose lives he impacted including a host of nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Carrell & Josie Ward, four brothers: Jerrell Ward, Johnnie Ward, George Ward and Floyd Ward.

Marvin's life celebration will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 12, 2017 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron, Arkansas with Bro. Jonathan Crouch officiating. Interment will follow in the Chant Cemetery in Y-City, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.

Marvin's pallbearers will be Bobby Walker, Mark Bates, Mike Norman, Caleb Elmore, Nick Beavers and Dale Charlsen. Honorary pallbearers will be loved ones and close personal friends he loved dearly and enjoyed making memories with.

Marvin's visitation will be Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home.
