Darrin Milligan

Darrin Ray Milligan, of Waldron, Arkansas, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, in Waldron. He was born on August 13, 1965, in Waldron, Arkansas, to Odell "Doc" Milligan and Carolyn Jean (Nelson) Milligan.

Darrin grew up learning the value of hard work and the importance of family. As a young boy, he worked alongside his grandfather, Winton Ray, in the bean fields, helping grow beans that were used in the production of cancer medicine. Those early days created memories and taught him lessons that remained with him throughout his life.

From an early age, Darrin loved dirt bikes and anything that allowed him to enjoy the outdoors. Fishing and hunting were among his greatest passions. He especially treasured the fishing trips he shared with Marty and his Paw Ernest, and he rarely missed an opportunity to go when they invited him. Those days spent together on the water became some of his most cherished memories.

Darrin was truly a jack-of-all-trades. There seemed to be very little he could not build, repair, or figure out. He was skilled in carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, concrete work, and farming. He had a natural curiosity and a remarkable knowledge of old tools and objects. Darrin could uncover something that had been buried since the 1800s, study it for a moment, and explain exactly what it was and how it had once been used. His knowledge, resourcefulness, and ability to work with his hands were admired by those who knew him.

Above all, Darrin loved his family. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his two sons, Cory Milligan and Dustin Milligan, both of Waldron, Arkansas; and five beloved grandchildren, Dakota, Violet, Owen, Cayson, Hazel Milligan, close cousins Misty Passmore and husband Steven Passmore of Waldron, Hope Boyd and Faith Boyd of Waldron, Arkansas, Anita Franklin of Booneville, Arkansas and Marty Nelson of Greenwood, Arkansas. Each of them held a special place in his heart and will carry his memory with them always.

Darrin was preceded in death by his parents, Odell "Doc" and Carolyn Milligan; his grandparents, Winton Ray and Opal Nelson, and Ernest, Ben, and Alena Milligan; his great-grandparents, Ernest and Bell Nelson; and his aunt, Madge Blackburn.

Darrin will be remembered as a hardworking and talented man who loved the outdoors, treasured time spent fishing and hunting, and could accomplish almost anything he set his mind to. His stories, knowledge, and the memories he created with those he loved will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

A private service will be held at a later date.
