Gary Earl Nelson of Waldron, Arkansas went to be with his Lord and Savior peacefully, Monday, May 5, 2025 in Waldron with his loving wife at his side. Gary was born January 11, 1946 in Waldron, Arkansas to Earl and Faye (Sparks) Nelson. He was 79 years old. Gary attended Temple Baptist Church for many years.
Gary grew up in and around Waldron Arkansas. In 1964, at the age of 18, Gary left Waldron and attended the National Meat Cutting School in Toledo Ohio. After graduating, he moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where he met his first wife Della Dee Ellison raising their three boys together. He went to work as a butcher for Club House Market Inc. shortly after his arrival. After many years proving his dedication to the company he was able to purchase it and take over ownership in 1990. He was a believer in perfection and hard work never taking a vacation until his retirement in 2005 after 41 years with the company. He always said if you want it done right you gotta do it yourself and nobody can do it as good as me. He took great pride in being the best Butcher In OKC. In 2010 he returned to his childhood home town of Waldron where he was able to enjoy his favorite pastimes hunting, fishing, playing guitar, singing, playing pool and dancing. Deer camp was one of his favorite places to be. He loved being able to share deer camp stories with his extended family and friends. There is something about sitting around a fire with loved ones sharing stories after a long day searching for the big one that got away. Nothing made him happier than his time with his wife Robbie, his hunting buddy and best friend. Whether it be nightly dances, spur of the moment adventures or just random walks through the woods. As long she was by his side he was happy, and she was until the very end.
Gary leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife Robbie. His sons with previous wife Della Dee Truel of Oklahoma City: Gary Wayne Nelson of Norway, Curtis Elliott Nelson of La Crescenta, California, and Billy Ed Nelson of Shawnee, Kansas. Daughter in laws: Siv Nelson, Hayley Nelson and Teresa Nelson. Grandpa-Pawpaw will forever remain in the hearts of his grandchildren: Samuel Gunerius Nelson, Braden Douglas Nelson, Cade Patrick Nelson, Chase Austin Nelson and Christian Tyler Nelson. Gary will be missed by all that knew him and the many whose lives he impacted including a host of extended family, friends and loved ones.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Faye, one sister Willa Dean Lambert, and brothers Ed Nelson and Ronnie Nelson.
