Harold Junior Shores, of Waldron, Arkansas passed from this life, Tuesday, October 1, 2013 in Waldron, Arkansas surrounded by his loving family. "Junior" was born March 28, 1942 to Sonny Shores and Laura (Brown) Shores in Harvey, Arkansas. Junior was 71 years, 6 months and 3 days old. Junior was a member of the Waldron Pentecostal Church of God.
On November 13, 1965, Harold Junior Shores married the love of his life, Shirley Marie Mahurin. Together they lived for 48 blissful years as sweethearts. They raised two children of their own and helped raise many others as they opened their home and hearts to everyone. Junior worked hard at the Charcoal Plant in Waldron for many years. After retirement, he enjoyed going down to the Rock Café and visiting with all the folks there. He could even be persuaded to sing a little gospel tune every now and again. However, his greatest pleasure was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He treasured each priceless moment he was with everyone of them.
Junior leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 48 years, Shirley Shores, of the home, one daughter, Tammy Gates and husband Brian of Waldron, Arkansas and one son, Billy Shores and wife Connie of Waldron, Arkansas. Papa will forever be missed by his grandchildren: Skyla Wagner of Van Buren, Arkansas, Shantel Gates of Waldron, Arkansas and Justin Shores of Waldron, Arkansas and step grandchildren: Chaynee Malone of Waldron, Arkansas, JT Rutledge of Texas , and Kasey Rutledge of Texas, as well as seven great grandchildren. Junior will also be missed by one sister, Lorene Hale and husband Jamie of Waldron, Arkansas and one brother, Arnold Shores of Waldron, Arkansas, one sister in law, Sheila Cogburn and husband Joe of Amity, Arkansas and one special uncle and aunt, Bob and Peggy Shores. Junior will be missed by all that knew him and the many whose lives were impacted by him including a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and loved ones.
Junior is preceded in death by his parents Sonny and Laura Shores, two brothers, Raymond Shores and Buddy Shores.
Junior's life celebration will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 4, 2013 at the Waldron Pentecostal Church of God in Waldron, Arkansas with Rev. Rickey Hunt and Brother Joe Cogburn officiating. Interment will follow in the Friendship Cemetery near Waldron, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Waldron, Arkansas.
Junior's pallbearers will be Tyler Wagner, Rick Black, Randy Cogburn, Randy Shores, Austin Hunt and Matthew Shores. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Hale, James Hale, Rick Mahurin and Larry Shores.
Junior's visitation will be Thursday, October 3, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas where Junior's family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
