Irene Mae Monroe, 89, of Waldron, Arkansas passed from this life Wednesday, July 1, 2010 in a Waldron hospital. Irene was the 2nd of ten children and was born October 15, 1920 in Spradra, Arkansas to the late Walter Nicholas Martin and Lillie Mae (Embry) Martin. She was of the Baptist faith, she loved jewelry, shopping, music and dancing, but most of all loved her Family and so enjoyed her grandchildren. Irene is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Stringer and husband, G. W. of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Suzanne Richardson and husband Dorsey of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two sons, Larry Monroe of Harvey, Arkansas, Danny Monroe and wife, Kathy of Choctaw, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Mark Stringer, Regina Garcia, Amy Stringer, Kelley Mullican, Cory Monroe, Cody Richardson; eight great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild and loved family friend, Paul Wiggins. She is also survived by two sisters, Pat Lindsey of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Varnell Cobb of Greenwood, Arkansas; and a very special friend Catherine Kelley of Waldron, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Knox Monroe, two sisters, Inez Lundry and Lorene Mitchell, five brothers, Ewell Martin, Albro Martin, Walter Martin Jr., WR Martin and BC Martin. Irene?s funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, July 5, 2010 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron, with Rev. David Williams and Tony Lundry, officiating. Interment will follow in the Monroe Cemetery in Harvey, Arkansas following the service. Pallbearers will be Dorsey Richardson, Cody Richardson, Cory Monroe, Mark Stringer, Fred Stringer, and Paul Wiggins. Visitation will be Sunday, July 4, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
