Jamie Dale Freeman, age 52, of Waldron, Arkansas, passed from this life on Friday, July 10, 2026, in Waldron, Arkansas.
Born on October 15, 1973, in Sherman, Texas, Jamie was the son of Sherrell J. Freeman and Lynda G. (Sims) Langley. From an early age, Jamie developed the resilient spirit and quick witted nature that would define his life. Whether he was working alongside his dad and brother in the wholesale trade business or later owning his own retail store in Texas, Jamie believed in working hard and taking care of the people he loved.
Those who knew Jamie knew he was one of a kind. He was clever, loved to make people laugh, and could strike up a conversation with anyone. To Jamie, there were no strangers-only friends he hadn't met yet. He was incredibly smart and had an amazing memory, especially when it came to history, facts, and stories from the past. It seemed there wasn't much he couldn't recall, and he genuinely enjoyed sharing what he knew with those around him. He loved music, found peace with a fishing pole in his hands, and was always on the hunt for a good bargain. A trip to the pawn shop wasn't just an errand; it was an adventure, and he enjoyed every minute of it.
Jamie was loyal to the core, had a heart as big as his personality, and while he could certainly be set in his ways, those who loved him wouldn't have wanted him any other way. He lived life on his own terms, always speaking his mind and always standing by the people who mattered most to him.
Above everything else, being a husband, a dad, and especially "Grumpa" were the roles he treasured most. His love wasn't always expressed through grand words, but through his presence, his humor, his advice, and the countless little things he did to let those around him know they were loved.
Jamie leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Connie Bailey Freeman of Waldron, Arkansas; his mother, Lynda (Ron) Langley of Boles, Arkansas; his children, Austin Freeman (Brianna Wise) of Roland, Oklahoma, Arron Freeman (Hannah Chrisman) of Central City, Arkansas, Seth Freeman of Utah, Haley Farrell of Florida, and Doug McConnell Jr (Kanyon) of Waldron, Arkansas. He is also survived by his siblings, Jeannie (Zane) Tolman of Pryor, Oklahoma, Tony (Shelley) Freeman of Whitewright, Texas, and Cathy Freeman of Sterling, Virginia.
His title of "Grumpa" was one he wore proudly. His seven grandchildren filled his heart with happiness, and the memories they shared together will remain treasured forever. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss his laughter, stories, and generous heart.
Jamie was preceded in death by his father, Sherrell J. Freeman, and his brother, Jason Freeman.
A Celebration of Jamie's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026, at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron, Arkansas, with interment to follow at Buffalo Cemetery. Colorful casual clothing encouraged.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron.
