John Sidney Cox

John Sidney Cox of Waldron, Arkansas went to be with his Lord and Savior, Monday, January 6, 2014 in Waldron, Arkansas surrounded by his loving family. Sidney was born June 14, 1923 in Waldron, Arkansas to George Sidney Amos Cox and Mattie Bell (Coyle) Cox. Sidney was 90 years, 6 months and 23 days old.

Sidney was a man of God. He was very strong in his faith and he believed in sharing God's word.
As a young man at the ripe age of 20, Sidney married the love of his life, Bessie. Together they worked and raised a family of four hard working, loving children. They enjoyed getting to be grandparents. They shared 50 plus years together until Bessie's passing in 1998. Sidney's love of playing music led him to volunteer his talents and his time sharing with those in the nursing home. Sidney loved his family and spending time and making memories with them were priceless treasures.

Sidney leaves behind to cherish his memory, four children, Marie Payton of Waldron, Arkansas, Ann Brown of Fort Smith, Arkansas, John D. Cox and wife Wilma Jean of Waldron, Arkansas and John Robert Cox and wife Regina of Van Buren, Arkansas. Papa will forever be missed by his ten grandchildren: Teresa, Tammy, Joey, Billy John, Jacky, Jason, Brittney, Justin, Juanita and Adam, as well as nineteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. Sidney will be forever in the hearts of one sister, Mildred Robbins of Hobbs, New Mexico and three brothers: Thomas J. Cox of Greenwood, Arkansas, Willie Cox of Eunice, New Mexico and Morris Cox of Mt. Home, Arkansas.

Sidney is preceded in death by his wife, Bessie, his parents, Amos and Mattie Cox, and two brothers, Charles Cox and J.T. Cox.

Sidney's life celebration will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2014 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron, Arkansas with Larry Justice officiating. Interment will follow in the Pilot Prairie Cemetery near Waldron, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.

Sidney's pallbearers will be Adam Cox, John Robert Cox, Shannon Cox, Kendall Cox, Logan Cox and Thomas Adamson. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Cox, Morris Cox, Willie Cox and Tim Adamson.

Sidney's visitation will be Wednesday, January 8, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.
