John Smith

Johnnie Ray (John) Smith, 84, of Waldron, Arkansas passed from this life Tuesday, October 19, 2010 in a Waldron, Arkansas hospital.

John was born January 3, 1926 in Freedom, Arkansas to the late Johnny R. and Stella (Hogue) Smith. He was a World War II Army Veteran and received the Purple Heart, and was a retired timber worker.

John is survived by one daughter, Amy Dawn of Waldron, Arkansas; two sons, Gary Ray of Waldron, Arkansas, Rickey Don of Waldron, Arkansas; one sister, Nellie Faria of Waldron, Arkansas; two brothers, Max Ray of Waldron, Arkansas; Millard Faye of Booneville, Arkansas; ten grandchildren, Gary, Jr., Garron, Steven, Caleb, Cody, Madison, Macy, Dawson, Gage, and Gunner all of Waldron, Arkansas.

John was preceded in death by his son, Mark Allen, five brothers, Willie Lee, Ernest, Raymond, Eugene, Thomas; two sisters, Belle and Virginia (Sis).

John?s funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 22, 2010 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J. Eldon Pennington and Rev. Rickey Hunt, officiating. Interment will follow with military honors in the Lick Creek Cemetery near Booneville, Arkansas. Arrangement are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Waldron, Arkansas.

John?s pallbearers will be Greg Burnett, Gary Burnett, Russell Scantling, Nick Sehorn, Steve Hattabaugh, Steven Smith. His honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Dorr, Junior Franklin, Dwight Poole Michael Smith, Jackie Smith and Greg Smith.

Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 2010 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. John?s family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday evening.
