Juanita Brown

January 21, 1934 — April 16, 2014

Juanita Brown-baker of delicious pies, lover of shoes and purses passed peacefully from this earthly life on April 16, 2014 at her home in Rogers, Arkansas.

Juanita, the oldest of 5 children, was born January 21, 1934 to Hamil and Zena (Holland) Saylor in Skaggs, a small community near Pocahontas, Arkansas. A consummate mother and homemaker, Juanita was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family. She also was a Razorback football fan and you could always count on her to be watching Payton Manning play professional football on Sunday's. Juanita was a member of the Waldron Church of Christ for 47 years and was a current member of the Robinson Avenue Church of Christ in Springdale, Arkansas.

Juanita is survived by her daughter, Lynn Metcalf and husband Rick of Waldron, Arkansas, son Greg Brown of Springdale, Arkansas. She is also survived by her precious granddaughters Allison Slankard and husband Jeremy of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Ashley Irvin and husband Kevin of Vilonia, Arkansas and Lindsey Brown D.D.S. of Keller, Texas. There are four others that call her Grammy, Isabella and Reid Slankard of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Madalyn and Harper Owens of Vilonia, Arkansas. Juanita is also survived by two sisters: Mava Nichols of Fresno, California and Janet Hammond of Visalia, California and one brother, Sam Saylor of Green Valley, Arizona, in addition to one sister-in-law Elizabeth Coldren of Waldron, Arkansas and on brother-in-law, Charles Brown and wife Judy of Plainview, Arkansas. Juanita will be missed by all that knew her and many whose lives she impacted, including many nieces, nephews and tremendous friends.
Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Brown, her parents Hamil and Zena Saylor and one brother Don Saylor.

Juanita was lovingly cared for by her family but also by a special group of people at Jamestown Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility. Her family gives them their greatest gratitude.

Celebration of her wonderful life will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2014 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron, Arkansas with Gaylon Lamb of Prairie Grove officiating. Interment will follow at Pearson Cemetery in Waldron, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Brown, Roger Sparks, Jason Stark, Scott Stark, Glenn Dale Oliver and Steve Hattabaugh. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Leonard Fuson, Reid Slankard, Shannon Hudgens, Sheldon Hudgens, Jim Hudgens, Charles Brown, Keith Brown and Jon Plummer.

Juanita's visitation will be Sunday, April 20, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas, where Juanita's family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
