Michael Gary Pottinger, 60, passed peacefully from this life on June 18, 2026.
Michael was born on July 29, 1965, in Redlands, California, to Bill and Wanda Pottinger of Heavener, Oklahoma, who preceded him in death. He graduated with the high school Class of 1983 and went on to build a strong work ethic that defined much of his life. In his younger years, Michael worked as a concrete mason before spending the remainder of his career in the oil field. Through dedication and perseverance, he worked his way up from a floor hand to becoming a consultant for Pottinger's LLC.
A devoted family man, Michael was known for his sense of humor, knowledge, generosity, and willingness to help others. He especially treasured time spent with his grandchildren and enjoyed camping at the lake, boating, farming, working outdoors, and his many years in the oil field. Michael's warm smile, steady support, and ability to fill a room with laughter will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Michael is survived by his wife, Loretta Pottinger; his children, Brandon Mahaffey and wife Allie of Waldron, and Lance Black of Fayetteville; his grandchildren, Greyson Duncan and Cambreigh Mahaffey; his brothers, Kenny Pickle and wife Vanessa of Poteau, Oklahoma and Terry Pickle and wife Julie of Michigan; his sister, Karan of California; his aunt and uncle, Tim and Margaret Nichols of Mountain Home, Arkansas; and his aunt, Mary Kay Peters of Mountain Home, Arkansas.
A Celebration of Life service for Michael will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Waldron Pentecostal Church with Rev. Konnor McKay and Bro. Travis May officiating.
Michael's visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 22, 206.
Michael's legacy lives on in the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
