S.A. Walls

An equestrian and a masterful specialty saddlery maker, S.A. Walls dedicated his life to the cowboy way. He leaves behind a legacy written in a deep pioneer spirit, beautiful custom made stirrups and friends and family who loved him.

S.A. was born on November 14, 1946 in Fort Worth, Texas to Betty C (Dunn) and Saint Elmo Walls. S.A. passed away on August 18, 2026 in Hot Springs, Arkansas after a brief illness. He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Levi Sebastian Walls; his maternal grandparents, Tempie (Dedmon) and Ira Allen Dunn of Waldron; his first cousin Jerry Parker and his uncle, Jim Dunn of Waldron, who taught him so much about the world of horsemanship.

Carrying his memory forward are his grandson, Christian Levi Walls and wife Natasha and great grandchildren Ayden and Ariyana Walls of Indianapolis Indiana; his step-daughter Jesse Rae of California; a friend, Amy (Annie) Mozal; multiple cousins from around the U.S. including first cousins Mary Caroline (Parker) and husband Tommy Roberson of Little Texas in Scott Co.; Cheryl (Dunn) and husband Patrick Travers; and Gena (Dunn) Hardy of Waldron. He leaves behind a warm echo in the hearts of his neighbors of Beauchamp and a host of friends and associates in the equestrian world.

Having a passion for music, he was self- taught on the guitar and the harmonica. It wasn't unusual to drive up to his place and hear Christian music coming from his living room.

He served in the military as an MP during the Vietnam War. After receiving an honorable discharge he returned to Fort Worth, Texas, and started the successful business, S.A. Walls Bail Bonds, that he had for years. He then started dividing his time between Fort Worth and Beauchamp in Scott County, Arkansas.

S.A. loved being outdoors, being away from the large city life and began building his home and headquarters for making custom-made stirrups. His deep craftsmanship was seen as he built his own home, a log cabin where he harvested and used the timber and rocks from his property that had been in the Dunn family since the 1800s. Through the years he built on to his home and began building his own equipment to make his custom aluminum stirrups that became much sought after and world renown.

He started making stirrups in 1982 and making barrel racing stirrups in 1997. One of his great pleasures in his life was being affiliated with and selling his stirrups at the Josey Ranch owned by world champion barrel racer Martha Josey.

His grandson, Christian, fittingly related that the last of the Walls' Cowboys has passed and gone to ride with the Cowboys in the sky.

S.A. often referred to himself and the place he loved and chose as his home-Beauchamp as being a "Sophisticated man about town, there just anent no town". A celebration of life will be held at a later date at his ranch in Beauchamp.

Arrangements and cremation are being entrusted to Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory.
