Victoria Porter

Victoria Virginia Porter, 93, of Waldron, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord Monday, March 29th, 2010 in Mercy Hospital of Scott County. She was born in Parks, Arkansas, one of fourteen children born to James F. and Fannie (Carter) Jameson,. Victoria was one of the ten siblings who lived to adulthood. She attended school in Parks and Barr Presbyterian Academy in Norman, Arkansas, where she met and married Charlie (C. H.) Porter. They were married almost 56 years before his death in 1991. They pastored Nazarene Churches in Indiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma, including a pastorate in Waldron from 1952 to 1962. Victoria is survived by a son Charles Edwin Porter and wife Melinda of Blytheville, Arkansas; daughter, Katheryn Smith and husband Barth of Olathe, Kansas; two sisters, Joanna Rhyne of Waldron and Edna Watson of Dewey, Arizona; seven grandchildren, Rachel Dawson and husband David, Matt Porter, Kelly Porter, Christopher Thomas and Melody Smith and husband Stephen; three great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, nine sisters; Faye Irene, Flora Mae, Clara Mae, Missy Daphine, Lavona Bronk, Katherene Murry, Lorene Pettit, Katherlene Morrison, Vida Hoffman, and two brothers, James "Buster" Jameson and John Simeon Jameson. Victoria's funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 1, 2010 at the Waldron First Church of the Nazarene with Dr. Barth Smith, officiating. Interment service will be 4:00 p.m. Thursday, at the Pickens Chapel Cemetery near Searcy, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted by Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Waldron, Arkansas. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday; 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to a Victoria Porter Memorial scholarship fund for music students in care of MidAmerica Nazarene University, 2030 College Way, Olathe, Kansas 66062.
