Wayne Payton

Wayne Thomas Payton, 65, of Waldron, Arkansas. passed away Tuesday, April 28th, 2009 at his home.
Wayne was born in Anamosa, IA on June 25, 1943, the son of the late Francis J. and Stella Mae (Bemrose) Payton.
He served in the U.S. Marines in the Vietnam War, retired from Rheem Manufacturing as a press operator, he loved to go to flee markets, he also loved Eagle and Wolf statues and enjoyed fishing.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Marie Payton of the home; six children, Janice Newhoff and husband Butch of Bayard Nebraska, Robert Payton and wife Connie of Durango, Colorado, Philip Payton and wife Kim of Fort Collins, Colorado; Charnell Payton of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Damon Payton and Ruth of Fort Collins, Colorado, Cheryl Ford and husband Chuck of Ft. Maddison, Iowa; two step children, Teresa Brixey of Mansfield, Arkansas, Tamara Adamson and husband Wayne of Waldron, Arkansas; numerous grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
He is also survived by one sister, Lois Colvin and husband Milton of Newell, Iowa; two brothers, Marion Payton and wife Genie of Anamosa, Iowa, Louis Payton and wife Anna of Missouri; two sister-in-laws, Jenny of Texas, Elsie Payton of Tipton, Iowa; one brother-in-law, Eldon Hanson of Mechanicsville, Iowa, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Hanson, three brothers, John, Jim, and Woodrow Payton.
Wayne?s memorial service will be held at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, Monday, May 4, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Jerry Isham, officiating and services by the local VFW and American Legion with interment Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the U. S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas with full military honors under the direction of the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.
Pallbearers will be Mike Atchley, Thomas Adamson, James Godfrey, and John Cox.
Honorary pallbearers will be member of the VFW Post and American Legion in Waldron, Arkansas
Wayne?s family will receive friends and family at the funeral home, Monday, May 4, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers the family has as for donations to be made to the American Cancer Society, 3291 S Thompson Ste D104 ??Springdale, AR 72764 or the charity of the donors choice.
